Pure Pwnage Episode 11 Premiere
So I went down to Toronto with my friends to see the premiere of Pure Pwnage's 11th episode, and it was awesome. I preordered tickets off the net for $10 each, and travel was $6 each way for the GO Bus, and $2.75 each way for the subay, so the whole trip ended up costing around $30. Other than that there was food and a t-shirt I bought. The line up wasn't bad, and Kyle came around the line to get footage for the screening video. My fingers are crossed, hoping that I'll be in there. On the way in, one of their flunkies tole me that if I needed to pick up my preordered tickets, I should go talk to a girl by the doors, who was wearing a Toronto Maple Leafs visor. When I got to the doors I saw her and instantly recognized her as Jenn Cutter, of OpenAlpha fame. I think this was the icing on the cake of the day, because I was a big fan of the podcast that she and Darren Kitchen (Hak.5) did for World of Warcraft, the WarRoom, that they stopped making 2 months ago. I went back to talk to her after I got seats, and she was a really nice person. When we got in, the theatre was pretty big and I talked to the guys in front of us about WoW until the whole thing started up. Of course the whole cast came in and, Doug, Jeremy, and Dave getting the biggest fanfare. Kyle also had a surprise for us. he told us that he was going to take some footage of us in the theatre, and the episode 11 that they will be releasing online will have this footage in it. My fingers are crossed that you can at least get a glimpse of me in the finished episode. They played episodes 2, 3, 10, and 11, and I have to say that I wasn't blown away by the new episode, but it was just as entertaining as all the rest have been, which still makes it worlds better than anything on TV. Afterwards, the whole crew was outside, talking to us and giving autographs. I got one of their Soulbound (that's Dave) WoW themed shirts, and I got all of their signatures on the back. They all signed as their characters, Jeremy as +teh_pwnerer+, Doug as fps_doug, Anastasia as Tagi, Kyle wrote a little camera beside his name, and Dave just scribbled something that is supposed to be his name. I noticed that they weren't 'in character' per se, and I'll explain how each of them were different, in turn. Jeremy wasn't talking in his usual gamerspeak, and he seemed really relaxed and maybe a bit uninterested. Doug seemed really bored and a bit annoyed, definately not his hyper alter ego. I also didn't hear him say his infamous boom headshot line, most likely due to the fact that it probably annoys the hell out of him now. Kyle was probably the closest to his character, seeing as he pretty much acts the most normal in the show. Anastasia seemed to be the most excited and friendly out of the bunch, probably partly because she doesn't seem as popular as some of the other characters, and maybe she is just that way normally. Finally, Dave seemed really serious, distracted, and bored. He was also more concerned with corraling people off the road when a car came by than he was with signing and meeting fans. So, after about a half hour I had all their signatures and we headed home. Talking to my friend afterwards, we discussed school, and future careers. We also talked abot WoW for a bit. He doesn't play but we figured out the percentage of time that I have been playing since I got it, and it was too much, that's for sure. Consequently, I am considering not renewing my subscription when my gamecard runs out. Oh well, we shall see. Yesterday was one of the most awesome experiences of my life, and I can't wait for the next screening.
